“It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion.” – Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany 1933-1945
Kinda creepy, huh? I mean, considering all that is going on with the IRS, DOJ, Benghazi, and the EPA. How better to “supervise” what the public hears in order to win an election than to lie, deny and pacify? “It is not truth that matters, but victory.” – Adolf Hitler, Führer und Reichskanzler, Germany 1933-1945
I wonder if Candy Crowley feels even a modicum of regret as a journalist for assisting Obama in the lie perpetrated upon the American public during his debate with Mitt Romney. (Probably as regretful as Hill and Barry feel about the four deaths in Benghazi.) She knew damned well that Obama never mentioned terrorism during the Rose Garden speech. But, then again, so did most of the people who voted for him. Like the followers of any charismatic leader, blind devotion trumps cold, hard facts every time. “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” – Adolf Hitler
It has now come to light that “… 92 percent of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) fee waivers were granted to ‘environmental allies,’ while just 8 percent were granted to conservative think tanks. The disparity came to light this week in a report by a conservative research group. Agencies can waive fees for requested information if they determine the information contributes to the public understanding of governmental activities” (Reuters.com). To have a complete understanding of any circumstance, you must be able to consider both sides of the issue. If one side is silenced, then all you are left with is a lecture from a biased podium. When giving free access to information only to groups sympathetic to Obama, his campaign organizers were able to pacify their supporters and quite possibly gain new ones.
Let’s add the EPA to the IRS scandal that hit the airwaves last week. Both pretty much attempted to accomplish the same goal – make life tough on the Conservatives (and those who are not Conservative, but believe in the Constitution and not in the government) so that they might give up, crawl under a rock and let Obama rule the country unfettered. Once again, his supporters got what they wanted because their 501(c)(3) and (4) requests slid through like shit through a goose while others languished in paperwork Hell for months and months. “In 2011 Conservative watchdog group Media Trackers filed with the IRS to achieve nonprofit status. The application got stuck in Obama-induced IRS limbo. In 2012 the same group changed its name and filed again with the IRS as “Greenhouse Solutions.” They were granted nonprofit status in 3 weeks” (Hannity.com).
Of course, He Who Bows to Dictators and Despots will claim he had no knowledge of the political games going on in either agency. He had no knowledge that there were serious security concerns in Benghazi. Certainly he had no knowledge of the wiretapping going on at the AP offices, and certainly he will deny any knowledge of the seizure of personal emails and phone records of Fox News’ James Rosen. Really, why is this guy still President?
The AP wiretapping scandal and the naming of reporter James Rosen as “…a probable ‘co-conspirator’ in a criminal spying case…” (Guardian.co.uk) reek of intimidation and a desire to show the press who is in charge. “Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.” – Joseph Goebbels. Problem is, Barry, there is a pesky little thing called the First Amendment and those who are journalists have no intention of changing their names to Steinway. I feel this hornet’s nest might just get us a Republican/Libertarian controlled House and Senate in 2014. (Put away your gavel, Nan. Ain’t happenin’.) Well, a girl can dream anyway.
What absolutely floors me is that Obama’s approval rating is still hovering around fifty percent. When people discuss the “dumbing down” of America I find it hard to believe that they are only referring to school children. Can it be that the effects of free stuff from the government include the loss of brain function? I guess so. In case you haven’t noticed the allusion running through this blog post, let me tie it up in a neat little bone-chilling bow for you with the following final quote:
“The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it.”
– Dr. Josef Mengele, SS Captain and The Angel of Death at Auschwitz, Germany, 1933-1945
