The times I remember best from my childhood are those I spent with my Grampas.
PopPop was always dressed to the nines and spoiled me to death. He passed away when I was 6. I still miss him.
My Nana then married a man much older than her. He became Grampa Jack…and I consider him to be my best friend from my childhood.
Grampa Franks was a little nutty and a lot of fun.
Anyway, there are a few little words of wisdom they passed on to me that have helped me through some fairly tough times. I just wanted to share them with you…
- Nothing bad ever happened that some good didn’t come of it.
- Any day above ground is a good day. Any birthday is better than the alternative 😉
- Take every stumbling block and turn it into a stepping stone!
My favorite came from Grampa Franks. He ate Corn Flakes every morning, with a side of buttered toast with jelly on it. He would make the same breakfast for Dotto, his dalmatian, and they would spend time enjoying their breakfast together. So…
- Take the time to have breakfast with your dog (or cat, if you prefer).
I guess that was his way of saying “stop and smell the roses”:)
